We invite you to our August Journal Club. Hosted by Poche member Smriti Nepal, we will be joined by Dr Carl Francia from UQ Poche Centre. Dr Francia will be discussing his paper "The epidemiological of acute rheumatic fever and rheumatic heart disease in QLD".
Dr Carl Francia is a Torres Strait Islander (Saibai Koedal, Guda Maluylgal Nation) Research Fellow at the Poche Centre for Indigenous Health, The University of Queensland. He completed his PhD in cardiovascular epidemiology, using linked administrative health data to investigate the epidemiology of acute rheumatic fever (ARF) and rheumatic heart disease (RHD) in Queensland. His research focuses on Indigenous cardiovascular epidemiology and the application of linked administrative data to understand disease burden, health service utilisation and outcomes, with the aim of informing policy, planning and equitable healthcare delivery.
