Ready Set Design - Design Bytes

Ready Set Design is a series of 3 workshops across 2025  and offers you the unique opportunity to attend designer-led workshops and learn how to access art & design courses as part of the next phase of their journey in a creative discipline. Ready Set Design will enable you to learn about careers and tertiary programs in design and develop your folio! Join us for the first session of the year; Design Bytes. 

WHAT TO EXPECT - WORKSHOP 1: DESIGN BYTES

Design Bytes provides you with the opportunity to hear from Art & Design professionals from different design fields  reveal some of the ways that design can shape the world around us.  At Design Bytes, you will learn about what the design disciplines are and get to ask questions directly. You will also get a FREE pizza lunch!!

Arriving by train: Melbourne Central Railway Station is only a minute away from RMIT University.
Arriving by tram: Take the Swanston Street tram and exit when you reach RMIT University.
Enter the campus at Building 16, go to Level 01 and Room 01

REQUIRED - CONSENT FORMS

Students aged under 18: Will need to complete the consent form here. The consent form must be signed by a parent/guardian prior to the workshop. Students who do not have a signed consent form will be unable to participate.

Students who are aged 18 or over: Must bring their ticket and valid photo/age ID to enter the event.

LEARN ABOUT WORKSHOPS 2 & 3 HAPPENING LATER THIS YEAR

Workshop 2: Folio Bytes Monday 7 July 2025

Folio Bytes invites you to participate in a hands-on workshop in a specific design field, such as building design/architecture, Graphic Design, Fashion & Drawing for Design. You will choose one session from the five on campus options available.  All workshops are run by RMIT design teachers or industry professionals, who will assist students to further explore and develop their folio.

Workshop 3: Interview Bytes Monday 22 September 2025

This session will give you the opportunity to hear from a panel of RMIT design teachers, selection officers and current students about what it takes to get into a design course at RMIT.  The panel will discuss the application process, what to expect in a program interview and how to present your folio.

Please note: You are strongly encouraged to attend all sessions to get the most out of the program.
