Peaceful Civil Resistance Training, Christchurch

Event description

We need civil resistance to avert climate breakdown, which means we need you to come to our free peaceful civil resistance/nonviolent direct action training on Sunday 11 June, 10 am - 5:30pm. These trainings, led by an experienced trainer, are playful, engaging, and connecting experiences. You'll not only learn practical skills, but also step into a community of peaceful civil resistance. Welcome!

We highly recommend that you come to a Restore Passenger Rail welcome talk prior to the training - see for options. If you can't manage this we'll need you to have a phone chat with the trainer prior to the training, to help orient you to our civil resistance campaign. Please invite your friends to register - we want to welcome people in and also support them to have the best experience possible.

Expect to get involved in fun and challenging exercises and discussions - this is not a lecture! The training will also be valuable for team building, and building solidarity and trust between people, so feel encouraged to come if you've already done a training, or aren't even sure if you want to ever do NVDA. The training and vegan kai is provided free. Details of the training including venue address will be emailed to you at the email you entered in this form. Yes, you will need to fill in this form to find out training address: Thanks for signing up!

Please note, we will ask people to plan to participate for the entire time. The climate crisis is really important, so please reschedule other commitments to prioritize attending for the full time, and do you best to arrive a bit prior to the 10am start. We recommend that you leave your Sunday evening free, as some of us may stay around afterwards for an early dinner.
