Screenprinting taster workshop Nov 15th - print a tote bag
Event description
Design and screenprint your own tote bag, no experience needed!
Join artist and designer Greta Menzies for a fun, hands-on introduction to screenprinting using paper stencils.
In this 2-hour session you’ll design and cut your own stencil, then print your artwork onto a tote bag (included in your ticket).
Want to make extras? See the 'what's included' section below.
What you’ll learn
How to create and screenprint your own design using paper stencils
Tips and tricks from Greta’s years of experience as an artist and textile designer
(Greta is happy to answer any questions about printing methods and help you find resources)
What’s included
All materials provided, including one tote bag
Extra tote bags will be available on the day for $6 each. They make great gifts!
You’re also welcome to bring your own light-coloured fabric or fabric item to print on, just make sure it’s at least 50% natural fibre (cotton or linen is ideal).
The max print size is A3.
Can I print more than one bag? Or multiple colours?
Once your design is on the screen you can print a few multiples if you'd like.
The workshop is set up for participants to make one bag with a single colour print, but depending on how fast you work, (if there is time) you are welcome to add another colour.
Who it’s for
This workshop is for anyone curious about screenprinting, no experience required.
All ages welcome! (Under 13s will need an adult to join them.)
Accessibility
The space is wheelchair accessible.
The process is adaptable for all abilities. If you can use scissors, that's excellent, tearing paper also works. Greta is happy to help with cutting if needed.

About Greta
Greta Menzies is an artist and designer based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara. She has taught art and design workshops since 2015, in galleries, schools, community studios, and at Massey University. Greta first started screenprinting with stencils in her garage at 17, making hoodies and t-shirts for her mates. Over the last few years, she’s refined her accessible, low-impact printing method while teaching school groups - and now it’s time for all ages to have a go!
