Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What will I need to do?
If you want to take part in this study, we will ask you to participate in a test track trial at the TOYOTA Centre of Excellence – Autodrome. You will be riding a motorcycle (HONDA CB125F equipped with this new technology) and wear a warning device of your choice.

During the trial, we will ask you to do three rounds of three laps around the Toyota test track.
- with C-ITS warning and standard warning device
- with C-ITS warning and warning device of your choice
- without C-ITS warning

Each round will introduce 2 real and common road situations in a lap unknown to you (1st, 2nd or 3rd). These scenarios are no more dangerous than riding in public and do not require any more skills than you already possess as a permit holder.

We will collect both subjective and objective data during the trials. The objective data includes your speed, braking status, throttle position, and reaction distance. Subjective data will be collected through a face-to-face interview with you conducted by the research team. The interview questions will be a mix of closed and open questions, and they will be conducted after you complete each lap of the test track. The entire discussion will be recorded for our reference and will be deleted once the interviews are transcribed. The trial will take around two hours and a half.

Complimentary light refreshments will be provided, and you will receive a $200 motorcycle accessories voucher.

Do I have to participate?

Being part of the study is completely voluntary. If you have further questions, please reach out to our key contact below.

  • Recent riding experience (actively riding at least 50 km per month)
  •  Not taking any medication that could affect the ability to ride safely.
  • No medical conditions that affect hearing or vision while riding.

What are the benefits of this study?
The end benefits will be a reduction of motorcycle accidents and fatalities and participants will be able to contribute to the adoption of the solutions that can contribute
    to that.
