The Young Naturalist: Butterflies, Beetles & Biodiversity

Young Naturalists will investigate the amazing connections between butterflies, beetles, and native plants in our unique Nature Laboratory & discover the incredible biodiversity that exists in Sydney Olympic Park.

Join our Investigator Team to become immersed in biodiversity-

* Investigate the amazing connections between butterflies, beetles, and native plants through hands-on activities, using microscopes and magnifying lamps, in our unique Nature Laboratory.
* Discover our amazing Australian butterflies and investigate their life cycles & patterns of migration.
* Be amazed by the beauty and intricate detail of butterfly wings & flower pollen under the microscope.
* Explore our spectacular collection of preserved butterflies, beetles, and other insect specimens.
* Create scientific drawings of butterflies, beetles & flowers in your Young Naturalist Sketch Book.
* Learn the essentials of Nature Photography for citizen science, as we focus our Canon cameras on the plants, fungi and insects that provide habitat and food for wildlife in Sydney Olympic Park.
* Become a Citizen Scientist by participating in our Young Naturalist Nature Discovery Project with iNaturalist and the UNSW Centre for Ecosystem Science.
* Get up close & personal with our LIVE Spiny Leaf Insects (Extatosoma tiaratum).

*Maximum 20 children/workshop.
