TiPS -Classroom Management Through the Eyes of Maria Montessori
Event description
Dr. Montessori had the opportunity to observe and work with children from diverse cultures and backgrounds across the globe. Her observations over a period of 50 years led her to discover certain universal truths about children’s growth and development. She saw that growth and development did not occur in a linear, steady, incremental pattern but in bursts and spurts, waves and cycles. However, Dr. Montessori has also laid out our role as prepared adults in supporting children’s optimal development. She said that the development that actually happens within the core of the child is secret and is the work of the child alone. But the child develops though her/his interaction with the environment, and that we have the responsibility to create.
Managing the 6-12 classroom can be a daunting experience for some Montessori adults. When we attend any seminars or workshops the one question that arises is always, how do you manage the classroom? Or can we have some strategies to manage the class?
For all Montessori adults the key is to go back and look carefully to what Montessori has said!
Let’s take a deep look at the theory, Not rush and trust the child.
