Join us for a sociable winter stroll through the beautiful Queens Gardens Nelson.
Your host, artist Claire Colvin, Studied fine art in the UK, and has a background in sculpture and illustration. We will meet at The Suter Art Gallery foyer, then head out to the Gardens which are next door, with sketchbooks, pen and pencil.
Claire will enable you to draw the delights of these mature gardens, brimming with native plants, delightful vistas over bridges and paths through leafy glades. Weather permitting we will be walking for an hour, taking notes, photos, sketching and doing some mindful exercises to unlock your creativity!
Back in The Suter education room, you can enjoy refreshments and partake in a series of tasks looking at composition, texture and form to free up your observation and drawing skills culminating in a group collaboration
Free sketch book and use of drawing materials provided. Suitable for age 16 and over, and any level of drawing experience .
wear "sensible" shoes, dress for the weather, bring a phone camera .
