Description

Are you ready to rethink your relationship with clothing?
Do you have garments sitting unworn, damaged or forgotten that deserve a second life?
Is it time to learn new skills, reduce waste, and reconnect with creativity through making?

Waste to Wear
is a hands-on workshop series exploring the environmental impacts of the clothing lifecycle while empowering participants with practical repair and upcycling skills. In this welcoming and supportive space, we will come together to share ideas, learn from one another, and discover how small changes can create lasting environmental impact.

Across five evening workshops, participants will explore creative techniques to repair, transform and repurpose discarded or damaged clothing into wearable pieces and useful everyday items. Together, we will build confidence, reduce textile waste, and rethink the way we consume fashion.
The workshops will explore:

  • The environmental impact of fast fashion and textile waste

  • Practical clothing repair and mending techniques

  • Creative upcycling and garment transformation skills

  • Ways to extend the life of clothing and reduce household waste

  • Sustainable habits that can continue beyond the workshops

This will be an inclusive and creative gathering. Materials and resources will be provided, and participants are encouraged to bring along garments or textiles they would like to repair or transform. The sessions will run:

  • 14th October, Fibre production - upcycle accessories

  • 28th October, Manufacturing - visible repairs

  • 4th November, Distribution - upcycle bags

  • 11th November, Purchase - upcycle wallets/purses

  • 25th November, Waste - felt keyrings and decorations

The series will conclude with a community exhibition celebrating participant creations (participation is optional) and inspiring more sustainable fashion practices across the wider community.

Date TBC.

One ticket covers all 5 sessions.
