Youth Mental Health First Aid Training - Shellharbour

headspace Shellharbour is offering Youth Mental Health First Aid Training for our local community.

The training will be held at headspace Shellharbour over two consecutive days, Monday the 16th of November and Tuesday the 17th of November from 9am til 5pm, you must attend both days to receive your certificate of completion. Lunch will be provided.

We are offering this training FREE for members of the community. If you are attending this training as part of your employment, professional development or similar, we kindly ask that you pay a small contribution fee of $50 to help assist in covering basic costs.

Youth Mental Health First Aid Training equips adults who teach, care for, or support young people with the knowledge, skills and confidence to recognise, understand and respond to a young person experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis. After this training you will be able to:

• Intervene early; recognise the warning signs of mental health problems in young people

• Offer support; learn the skills to have an open, supportive conversation about mental health

• Respond in a crisis; respond across a range of crisis situations where a young person may be at risk of harm

• Reduce stigma; reduce stigma and increase support for young people experiencing and living with mental health problems

This course is recognised by Suicide Prevention Australia as a safe, high-quality, and effective suicide prevention program.
