Copyright for researchers

Copyright can arise throughout the research process, from using third-party material and GenAI tools to publishing papers and making a thesis publicly available. The workshop will help you understand your copyright responsibilities and make informed decisions when using, creating and publishing research content

   This workshop will cover:   

• Copyright fundamentals and ownership of research and scholarly works

• How copyright exceptions, including fair dealing, apply to research

• Using third-party content such as images, figures, tables and online material

• Copyright considerations when using GenAI

• Managing copyright in publications and theses

• When permission is required and how to do that

• Where to find further copyright guidance and support.

Audience: 

Any postgraduate researchers and UTS staff.   

This workshop will be delivered online via Zoom. Participants can attend the workshop in real time or access the recording at their convenience.
