Corangamite Agroecology Dialogue
Event description
Corangamite Region Agroecology Dialogue
Join AFSA's focal point for farmers Tammi Jonas of Jonai Farms and Meatsmiths for the first (of hopefully many) agroecology dialogues to be run in our area.
The Australian Food Sovereignty Alliance has been running agroecology dialogues for a number of years including a string of successful events up the east coast of Australia last year.
There is more now than ever an interest from farmers to access more equitable markets that increase local accessibility to their produce and to embrace ecologically-sound and socially-just practices, all whilst collectivising to deal with the problems that all farmers are facing. In a global context, this movement is called agroecology, a lesser-known term in Australia.
To grow agroecology in Australia, we need to build strong networks at a grassroots level, and connect them to the national and international movements for food sovereignty.
The aim of these agroecology dialogues is to bring people together to connect, share ideas and to find ways of working together to strengthen our communities and food system. We hope to engage people that are working at all levels in the food system with the ultimate aim of transforming our food and agricultural systems from the ground up.
What to Expect:
Share experiences of grassroots strategies for growing and accessing ecologically-sound, socially-just, nutritious and delicious food.
Work together to take back control of our food and agriculture systems from corporations.
Build connections between local, regional, and national organisations.
Before the Event:
We’ll be sending out a short survey to ticket holders before the event to help us understand the key challenges and opportunities that you see in our area. The email will also include important info like directions and event logistics.
