EVENT DESCRIPTION:
The Corona Rumble is our end-of-May virtual run, designed to appreciate the unique battles the world has faced in its spar with COVID-19. The battle has been different for all. Some countries have severe stay-at-home restrictions; some allow citizens to roam freely. Some people are thriving in the extra personal space; some are struggling. Some have a welcoming and supportive home environment; some are fighting a battle with more than just the disease. The Corona Rumble recognises and appreciates the unique situation of each person – and is offering part of its proceeds towards helping some of those battles.
Distances on offer are 1km-30km. The Kid's Dash is available for the standard rate of $5 fo registration; all other distances are available at a flat rate of a $20 registration fee. Twenty five percent of the registration fees will go towards an organisation* aimed at helping survivors of domestic violence. An optional medal is available for $19, including domestic shipping. Note: As the medal is specially created for this one-time event and is of a high design** quality, it is more expensive than previous ones.
To be eligible to have their results posted on the event page, all participants must do their virtual run on the weekend of 23-24 May 2020 and make their results available by 26 May 2020 at 11:59pm. This event encourages & respects all practices of responsible social distancing while running, including indoor/treadmill runs. Please be aware that virtual races do not count in ‘official’ race tallies of various clubs (Marathon Maniacs, Australian 100 Marathon Club, etc) nor will they be likely to be accepted as qualifier timers to other events. They ‘merely’ give you the option of running in a safe and supportive environment while helping those who can’t run.
RULES:
1) Register for your distance.
2) Run your distance anytime between 12:00am 23 May 2020 and 11:59pm 24 May 2020, Adelaide time. All distances must be completed in one go (ie, don't run two separate 10.55km runs and call it a half marathon. If you've gone home and relaxed between the runs, it's not a virtual event)
3) Record your run with a device. TomTom, Garmin, Strava, & the like are acceptable.
4) To have your name on the results sheet (and your medal mailed out, if you've ordered one), you must provide the organisers with a screenshot of your completed run by 26 May 2020 at 11:59pm GMT+9:30 (Adelaide time). Participants have the option of posting their screenshot results to the Facebook event page, PMing it to GoodRunnings, or emailing it to GoodRunningsinfo@gmail.com. NOTE: The run MUST be completed between 12:00am 23 May 2020 and 11:59pm 24 May 2020, Adelaide time. The extra 48 hours is to provide extra time to upload the screenshot.
