Cosmic Ch’ixi - Daira Ronzoni x Kiln Klub
Description
Join us at Kiln Klub for a workshop that invites participants to enter the world of artist Daira Ronzoni's video game 'Cosmic Ch'ixi' and translate elements of its landscape, characters, objects and cosmologies into clay!
The game presents an in-between world where ancestral cosmologies, digital technology, environmental destruction, regeneration and multiple temporalities coexist. Its landscape responds to 'susto' - understood in the project as a rupture in the relationship between person, community and the living world - and moves towards ideas of reciprocity and restoration in a time of ecological collapse.
Rather than asking you to reproduce imagery from the game, we will use the game as a starting point for world-building. You are invited to create your own ceramic offerings, beings or fragments of landscape that could exist within this world and collectively explore the themes, selected readings and methods that have been nurtured in Daira's practice.
Some resources have also kindly been provided from the @strange_exchange_library!
Daira will be coding these offerings into the landscape of Cosmic Ch'ixi and on the 25th October you will be welcome to return to Kiln Klub to collect your creations and also interact with them in a viewing/gameplay of Cosmic Ch'ixi in the studio.
