LO COTIDIANO
By Cin Martinez
Directed by Sasha Brätt

Sunday, March 30 at 3pm
Charter Oak Cultural Center
21 Charter Oak Avenue, Hartford

As a young woman is about to launch her career-changing novel, her mother spirals when she accidentally discovers that her daughter only credits her grandmother for inspiring her unapologetic and daring path. Will tensions within her family derail her plans for a joyful book launch party?

ADMISSION IS FREE, ALTHOUGH RESERVATIONS ARE RECOMMENDED. Online reservations will end on Friday, March 28 at 3pm. Guests without reservations will be admitted at the door subject to availability.

“Lo Cotidiano” translates from the Spanish to “Everyday Life” or “Daily Living.” The term is central to Ada Maria Isasi-Diaz’s Mujerista Theology.  Dr. Isasi-Diaz believed that Latina\a/o/e women have a unique spirituality and relationship to God that is tied to their daily struggle and informed by their lived experience.

Developed as part of Charter Oak's Ada Maria Isasi-Diaz Justice Institute, Lo Cotidiano is based on interviews and oral histories with members of the Latina\a/o/e community. Connecticut playwright Cin Martinez has woven their stories into a new narrative that is being workshopped with a director and actors and previewed with this special reading. YOU can support their work by attending and participating in a post-reading talk back as we prepare for a full production of Lo Cotidiano.

We are grateful to the Greater Hartford Arts Council for their support of this workshop. Thank you to the Roberts Foundation for sponsoring the creation and performance of Lo Cotidiano.

Other supporters of Charter Oak’s Ada Maria Isasi-Diaz Justice  Institute include CT Humanities; The Dodd Center for Human Rights; Drew University Theological School; Graciella Isasi, William Isasi, Mari Isasi-Diaz, Gloria Ysasi-Diaz, Maria Ysasi-Diaz, and Luly Nicosia. We thank you all!
