Council of All Beings Creative Workshop

Join Tree Veneration Society artist Audrey Egan and the Council of All Beings for a two-hour creative workshop exploring what we can learn when we step outside our human perspective and listen to the world through another living being.

This creative workshop invites participants to connect with a non-human being - fauna, flora or fungi - through guided meditation, mask-making and embodiment.

Participants will then be invited to give their chosen being a face, shape, feeling and voice, before gathering in a Council to share their insights about their ecosystems and how human actions can impact them.

The workshop concludes by gifting these learnings back to the two-legged world to apply as participants return to their human lives.

About the Council of All Beings:

The Council of All Begins was originally created by John Seed and Joanna Macy for the Works that Reconnect and Deep Ecology and has been adapted for the public attending the Coal Loader by Audrey Egan.

About the artist:

Audrey Egan is a French-Australian artist whose work merges art, social engagement and joy to challenge environmental and social issues. With a Master’s in Cultural Project Management from IESA, Paris, Audrey brings a unique and playful approach to activism that seeks to transform how we engage with the natural world. She is a member of the Tree Veneration Society and the Institute of Deep Ecology.

About the Coal Loader Artists Studio:

This dedicated space is part of North Sydney Council's Creative Spaces Program and specifically supports artists and creatives with a community-focused and socially-engaged interest in sustainability and the environment to develop their practice over a 12-month, fully subsidised residency. 

Residents are supported to host open studios, workshops, talks and other events that invite residents and visitors alike to make, reflect, learn and connect. 

In 2026, eco-arts collective The Tree Veneration is in-residence, with a different collective member in residence every six weeks.
