About the Speaker
Daniel Ghezelbash is a Professor and Director of the Kaldor Centre for International Refugee Law at UNSW Sydney, an ARC DECRA Fellow, and a practicing refugee lawyer. He is a leading expert in international refugee and migration law, legal technology, and access to justice. His research focuses on improving Australia's asylum procedures and understanding the global spread of restrictive asylum policies, explored in his book Refuge Lost (2018). Daniel founded the Kaldor Centre Data Lab, pioneering data-driven legal research, and has led multiple initiatives using technology to support unrepresented litigants and combat systemic discrimination. He has held visiting positions at Oxford and Harvard, is Special Counsel at the National Justice Project, and serves on several not-for-profit legal boards.
