Get sweaty and let’s dance BIG in the beautiful Drill Hall!

In these 3-hour workshops, we will train our mind and bodies through classes and practical tools sessions, getting hands-on with the Countertechnique Toolbox. These tools help us as dancers to stay present, process information, and turn thought into movement with clarity and ease. Going deeper than what just a class can offer — these 3-hour sessions are an opportunity to take more time to further understand, embody, and expand your Countertechnique practice.

WHAT IS COUNTERTECHNIQUE?

Countertechnique provides tools for body and mind to deal with the deman­ding dance practice of the 21st century. It is a movement system to help the dancer think about the dancing body, focusing on the process of incorporating information into action.

Countertechnique was developed by Dutch choreographer, dancer and teacher, Anouk van Dijk throughout her twenty-five year career. Over the last eighteen years, the knowledge and experience she gained – in constant dialogue with her dancers – was gradually transformed into a detailed theoretical system and a teaching method, which now together forms the Countertechnique system.

ABOUT MADELINE HARMS
Madeline Harms is an Australian contemporary dance artist, educator, and Countertechnique® teacher with over a decade of international experience. Certified in Countertechnique® since 2021, she teaches regularly across Europe and Australia, sharing her passion for embodied awareness and artistic growth. Her practice embodies curiosity, collaboration, and a commitment to process-driven play. She has performed and toured worldwide with acclaimed companies including Tanzmainz (Staatstheater Mainz, Germany), Sydney Dance Company, and Stephanie Lake Company. Madeline has collaborated on creations with choreographers such as Sharon Eyal (S-E-D), Rafaele Giovanola (CocoonDance), Guy Nader & Maria Campos (GN|MC), Roy Assaf, Guy Weizman & Roni Haver (Club Guy & Roni), Rafael Bonachela, and Tra Mi Dinh.
