Event description

Zoe Daniel, Independent Member for Goldstein, invites you to participate in a special workshop to build skills and work together on standing up against the dangers of racism, prejudice and discrimination in our communities.

Courage to Care’s Community Upstander Program inspires transformation of bystander behaviour to Upstander action through a 2-hour interactive workshop, with small group discussions and collaborative activities using case studies drawn from relevant experiences.

The Community Upstander Program intends to help participants to:

  • gain insight through the discrimination cascade into how unacceptable behaviours are normalised
  • understand the value of Upstander behaviour and the obstacles to action
  • develop practical, effective and safe strategies for Upstander responses
  • consider how an Upstander support framework for workplaces and community clubs can support positive culture change

Courage to Care is a not-for-profit organisation that delivers invaluable programs throughout Victoria for community groups, workplaces and schools. Courage to Care seeks to transform us from being bystanders into upstanders – people who stand up to all kinds of prejudice and discrimination. You can read more about Courage to Care on their website.

Let’s come together and affirm our commitment to stand up to the dangers of racism, antisemitism, Islamophobia, misogyny, homophobia and more – and bring skills back into our communities as we work to make Goldstein a discrimination-free zone.
