Event description

What are we to do when society’s traditional leaders don’t provide the leadership called for by the times?

We currently face a crisis in trust of all of our major institutions: government, media, business, NGOs and religious institutions.

Societal impact is now considered a core function of business. Yet many leaders continue their focus on business-as-usual and risk being left behind in a world that is fast adapting to the critical needs of society.

With the climate crisis, we face the biggest test of humanity in our lifetime. Truth be told – in humanity’s existence. And we’re coming up woefully short. Our political leaders to date have lacked the leadership and conviction that we so desperately need. The lack of consensus. The lack of will. The lack of a vision for a better future, to inspire people to follow them towards it and to help create it.

This leadership void presents us with huge risk to our livelihoods and even our way of life. But it also gifts us with the opportunity to come together; to collaborate so we can build a better future. A future where...

  • More of us can thrive in our workplaces and communities
  • We feel valued and engaged in meaningful work
  • Inclusive workplaces value diversity and strive for equitable outcomes for all people
  • Organisations and individuals contribute to a healthy thriving planet
  • Our organisations are successful because our people believe they are worthy of their best efforts

The call to leadership

This future is begging for courageous leaders to build a path towards it. The leaders we need are not called to leadership by their job title, but by what they hold to be important. What matters to them that they are prepared to make a stand on. This is leadership that requires courage and vision and a clear sense of identity.

We invite you to join a discussion on courageous leadership on Thursday 21st April.

‘Risk Rebel’, Lisa Sisson and ‘Chief Purpose Activist’, Carolyn Butler-Madden will share their perspective on what courageous leadership looks like and what are the vital elements you need clarity on, to step into leadership within your organisation. This session includes an open discussion on this topic to help participants navigate their next steps on their leadership journey.
