Coursed Waters 'Sensemaker'
Event description
Coursed Waters is a high-energy modern jazz quartet led by saxophonist and composer Sam Gill. The band features four of Australia's most creative and critically-acclaimed Improvisers:
Sam Gill - alto & soprano saxophones
Novak Manojlovic - piano
Jacques Emery - double bass
James McLean - drums
In October, Coursed Waters celebrate the release of their sophomore album 'Sensemaker'. Released on Earshift Music, the album's six tracks see the band explore the concept of sense-making: how we understand and engage with the world around us, how we ascribe meaning to our life experiences, and how we co-create the world with those around us.
The new album follows their 2019 debut 'Many Altered Returns' (Earshift Music), which received glowing reviews from Loudmouth (The Music Trust), All About Jazz and Jazz Trail. Here’s what the critics said:
Many Altered Returns presents Sam Gill’s dextrous and tasteful freely improvised music approach through the eminently cohesive Coursed Waters ensemble. - Stuart Vandegraaff (Loudmouth, Music Trust, E-Zine)
