Cover yourself in Canberra social ride for sexual health month
Event description
Presented with Meridian ACT, a community-controlled, peer-led organisation that provides health and social support services to Canberra's LGBTIQA+ community.
Celebrate Sexual Health Month with a slow, social ride past the Canberra icons featured in Meridian's 'Cover yourself in Canberra' campaign, designed by local artist Yiannis Nikodellis.
Note: this tour involves discussions about safer sex and health, so may not be appropriate for young children.
This ride is mostly flat - except for the overpass across Parkes Way. Participants can finish at the Rainbow Roundabout in Braddon, or if you're comfortable with a few hills, take the longer path to Belconnen to finish at Bruce Armstrong's Owl on Benjamin Way.
Most of this tour will be on separated paths, but there are small sections where we cross roads. Participants must agree to ride at their own risk. We will have a waiver on the day. Individuals can purchase insurance from Pedal Power from $11:99/month ($6:99 month students) via https://www.pedalpower.org.au/membership.
Dress: wear what ever is comfortable. You don't need special clothing or cycle, just one with brakes. Oh, and a helmet. For protection.
