Event description

Handsome hedonists assemble—with the approach of warm weather and seasonal silliness we’re once again setting course for the source of primeval party pulse—Crab Claw is back in ‘da club’.

Our November meeting point is the Rechabite Hall; an exquisite setting for a celebration of wacky, wonderful, boisterous and brave sounds and self-guided dance and community building. Join us as we warp through a Friday evening of ‘musique de danse’ with a trio of DJs known for their wholehearted embrace of freaky frequencies and head-spinning hot wax. Leading the charge is the North London-based duo of Conrad McDonnell and Dan Tyler—aka the Idjut Boys—iconic auteurs of ridiculously infectious dub-heavy anything-sampling electronica.

This party takes place in the Yandliup area on unceded Whadjuk Noongar Boodjar, a place originally dominated by low-lying wetlands that connected to the Derbal Yerrigan providing an essential source of water and a filtration system for nutrients, an ecosystem for plant life, animals and ways of being and seeing. We respect their elders—past, present & emerging and their constant contribution to the region.

First Nations folks are entitled to free entry, message Crab Claw to organise.

Who are the Idjut Boys?

To say London's Idjut Boys are icons of the dance music scene and legends in their own right is an understatement. For over 20 years, Conrad McDonnell and Dan Tyler have been doing everything together, from DJ’ing to producing to partying. The self-taught Brits met in the late 80s at clubs where the likes of DJ Harvey spun, and shortly after switched from being mere observers to esteemed contributors. From their North London studio, they have run three record labels and produced their infectious dub-heavy disco sampling house for many more. They formed their first label, U-Star, in '94 on the back of their successful club nights of the same name and, most notably, haven’t stopped since.

Party Accessibility:

The Crab Claw crew will be available via DM throughout the night—if you see something or are feeling some kind of way, don’t hesitate to get in contact or immediately reach out to a Rechabite staff member.

All key floors of The Rechabite are wheelchair accessible via lifts, including the rooftop. The upper balconies in the Hall are only accessible by stairs. There is an accessible unisex toilet in the basement. Flashing lights and haze will be used in the main room, however, there will be no stroboscopic effects. If you have any accessibility questions or requests please don’t hesitate to message Crab Claw.
