CRAFTING SACRED Workshop Series
Event description
Through ceremony and sacred crafts, Akua and Elizabeth draw on ancient practices and their deep connection with the earth, to tap into our inner and collective wisdom. They create beautiful and nourishing spaces, weaving together crafting, the cyclical wisdom of nature, re-memberance of ancestral ways, and our human need for collective ritual and ceremony to support healing and transformation.
Nourishing afternoon tea and all materials are provided for each workshop. These are inclusive spaces and all are very welcome to attend.
Workshops will take place in Katoomba, venue to be announced closer to the date.
Tickets are $150 per person, per workshop (plus booking fee), or as a bundle of 3 for $375.
Tending Our Inner Wilderness
Saturday 5 April, 1-5pm
Our lives follow cycles within cycles but in our modern experience, we have forgotten this knowledge and way of being in the world.
This workshop offers an introduction to the Four Shields of Human Nature, a rites of passage framework that draws upon ancient wisdom and offers a map for our modern lives, one that is connected to land, community and spirit and presents opportunities for growth and nourishment.
Reflecting on the Shields through a contemplative walk, participants will be invited to craft their own nature talisman to take with them into the coming cycle.
Woven throughout the day will be embodied practices of guided meditation, song, sharing circle and ritual.
Spinning Ancestral Wisdom
Saturday 3 May, 1-5pm
Handspinning is an ancient practice that stretches back through the web of human experience, while the act of slow and intentional crafting can be a potent meditation and opening to our inner wisdom.
In this workshop, participants have the opportunity to learn this gentle craft using antique drop spindles and natural fibre as both a metaphor and a portal to connect with their ancestral wisdom. Through spinning our own red thread we can re-member our lineage and honour our healed ancestors.
Woven throughout the day will be a drum journey, song, sharing circle, and ritual.
Belonging with the Land
Saturday 7 June, 1-5pm
In this workshop, participants will have the opportunity to learn the natural and ancient craft of bundle dyeing with plants, roots, bark and flowers to eco-dye their own ceremonial shawl.
By cultivating a sense of belonging with the land through ceremony and sacred crafting, we can honour the deep connection we have with Mother Earth and with all living beings, listening and receiving their wisdom and reconnecting with our own inner knowing.
Woven throughout the day will be sacred ceremony, fire, song and sharing circle.
Please contact Elizabeth or Akua if you have any queries about these workshops. We look forward to sitting in circle with you.
