CRC Labor Day Retreat
Event description
Camping under the stars and sharing a campfire story with friends. Kayaking on a crystal clear lake surrounded by mountains of pine under a starry sky. Hiking along cool streams and searching for the next amazing view. Exploring the history that shaped our state and nation, and is the bedrock of our conservation landscape and the wild lands we love. What more could you ask for to close out an amazing summer?
As you may know, the Conestoga has been unpredictable and largely unsafe for our normal activities; kayaking, camping, exploring, so we decided the time was right to visit some of our other favorite places, and you’re invited.
What to expect…
The idea is pretty simple, we have secured a group camp site for 30 people from Friday August 29th through Monday September 1st. There will be group activities daily, including kayaking (bring your own or rent one of ours), guided group hikes, visits to historic locations, and other fun activities. Not the least of which is a weekend long photo scavenger hunt with prizes
All of this supported by group camping with cool people. We will have a common cooking fire (grill tools available), a covered "common kitchen" area with cooking and drinking water, snacks, ice, assorted cold beverages, and common condiments. We will also have a well stocked first aid kit with basic wound care, common over the counter meds, and a portable hand washing station for sanitation. ‘
About the camp site…
Camping is at Pine Grove State Park, group camp site C. (Pictured above) The ground is level and well drained, with ample parking nearby and toilet facilities. There is a central fire ring and numerous picnic tables.
About meals….
Aside from a pot luck first night meal between 6pm and 8pm, there is no common meal plan, and you should plan accordingly. We will have small pots for boiling water and the fire pit has a grill grate,
There are several dining establishments and grocers within 15-30 minutes drive.
