Create & Sip at SECCA with artist Jane Aliendi
Event description
Join SECCA for an after-hours workshop with local artist and SHNPA finalist Jane Aliendi. In this 'Create & Sip' workshop participants will explore egg tempura painting. This ancient technique uses dry pigment bound with egg yolk to create a water-soluble paint that is transparent and fast drying. It is built up in multiple hatched layers to create a rich, strong surface.
Egg tempera reached its height during the Renaissance with artists such as Giovanna Garzoni and Botticelli. Although it was superseded by oil paint, it continues to be the traditional medium for Orthodox Icon paintings, and the work of contemporary artists like Andrew Wyeth, George Tooker, Julio Reyes and Antony Williams highlight its relevance today.
In this workshop you will be introduced to basic paint preparation and application.
Arrive anytime from 6pm to explore the current exhibitions, come along after work, meet your friends, and share the art experience with a drink.
Numbers are limited!
Suitable for adults.
Thursday 30 January, 6.15pm - 8pm, $75 per person (complementary drink provided by North of Eden Gin on arrival).
