Create History
Event description
Do you love history? Want to create history?
Come to the event space underneath the Anzac Memorial in Hyde Park. Join actors, expert historians and neurodivergent history enthusiasts for some live story telling, LEGO building and hands on object exploration.
This neuroinclusive event for families will allow you to explore the incredible exhibition whilst listening to stories from the past.
Actors will be walking around the exhibition telling stories from letters and diaries of service men and nurses.
You will be able to build the future you would like to create in LEGO in the event space. 100s of kilograms of LEGO will be there to build structures with the support of lead facilitators and volunteers.
Touch historical objects like uniforms, packs, survival equipment and ask as many questions as you like from experts.
There will be a live ceremonial performance to open the event with the Dhinawan Yarn group singing, dancing, playing didgeridoo and welcoming us. Followed by Queensland singer, Emma Tomlinson performing the National Anthems of Australia and New Zealand.
You can free play through all the activities in your own time and do what works for you.
A quiet space will be available for anyone who would like to use it.
All people under 18 must attend with a parent or carer.
All tickets are free.
Join us as we learn from history and create our own.
This event is funded by the Australian Government Department of Social Services.
