Event description

Join us for a hands-on, nature-inspired workshop where creativity meets conservation. Our Nesting Wheel workshop is perfect for beginners—no weaving experience needed. In this immersive three-hour session, you’ll craft your own unique nesting wheel, a heartfelt offering to the birds in your area and a meaningful way to bring natural beauty into your outdoor space.

We’ll begin with a peaceful introduction, setting intentions and grounding ourselves in the rhythms of the natural world. Next, we’ll embark on a foraging walk through the forest and meadows, gathering materials that birds naturally use to build their homes—grasses, twigs, moss, leaves, and other treasures nature provides. These materials will become the foundation of your nesting wheel. Using a 12” cedar ring as your loom, you’ll weave these elements together with pine needles, cattail fluff, alpaca and sheep hair, feathers, and more, creating a one-of-a-kind nesting station.

As you weave, you’ll tap into your creativity and the profound connection between humans and the natural world. Your finished nesting wheel will provide essential resources for birds, supporting their nesting process and helping sustain local bird populations. By offering a safe and accessible source of natural nesting materials, you’ll play a small but meaningful role in nurturing the ecosystems around you. Birds will use the materials you’ve gathered to build their homes, protecting their young and ensuring future generations can thrive.

Your Nesting Wheel will not only benefit our beautiful songbirds, but will also be a beautiful, ever-evolving addition to your garden—one that can be replenished with the changing seasons. If time allows, you’re welcome to create multiple wheels or share your foraged materials with others, fostering community in the spirit of giving back to nature.

Come nurture your connection to the earth, support your feathered neighbors, and enjoy this creative, grounding experience that blends art, conservation, and the beauty of the natural world.
