Event description

Free and open to new and returning volunteers, working with students at the elementary, middle and high school levels.

Participants will learn about key aspects of child and adolescent development. How are students growing socially and emotionally, and how does that influence their relationships and their learning? What kinds of behaviors can we as tutors and mentors expect to see in our students and how can we best support them?

Alice Cohen will provide you with tools and strategies to help you understand and connect with the students you are working with. She will also share best practices for engagement, sustaining attention, supporting resilience, and dealing with conflicts.

Transportation and Parking: The Main Library is accessible by both bus and subway. There is also a Bluebike station located directly in front of the library. There is an underground parking garage with access from Broadway. It costs 25 cents for every 12 minutes of parking. You may pay by using quarters or credit cards. There is also metered parking on Broadway and Cambridge St. and resident parking in the surrounding streets.
