Creating Authentic Creative Health Connections with Ben Segal
Description
Drawing on his presentation at the 2026 International Dementia Conference in Sydney, Creative Health Teaching Artist Ben Segal explores how interdisciplinary arts practice can enhance clinical and care environments.
Rather than treating the condition of the patient, Ben focuses on creating the conditions in which connection, communication and creativity can emerge. Through the flexible use of music, movement, storytelling, drama and visual art, one shared session can respond to a wide range of physical, cognitive, emotional and communication needs.
This webinar explores how Creative Health research can be translated into practical therapeutic settings. Drawing on interdisciplinary arts practice, Ben will share ways to read the room, adapt in the moment and create inclusive, person-led experiences that support patients, families and staff.
This webinar is suitable for:
Artists and teaching artists
Creative Health practitioners
Healthcare and aged-care professionals
Activity coordinators and care staff
Allied health professionals
Community arts facilitators
Arts organisations developing Creative Health inclusive programmes
Anyone interested in responsive, relational and person-led creative practice
