Learn how to conceptualise infographics and present data
Welcome to Creating effective infographics: presenting data with influence and integrity. This course is about data visualisation and creating infographics. By the end of this course, participants should be able to:
know their audience, message and data
choose the right visual for their data, audience and message
design the visual, including use of colour, font and accessibility features
understand the infographic development process.

Some extra information about the course
Infographics can communicate complex concepts to a variety of audiences. But making an infographic is not the same as making an effective infographic.
Course topics
Introduction to infographics – maps out the territory and looks at examples.
Laying the groundwork – looks at what we must know and understand if we are to develop infographics efficiently, including:
audience – we must tune our message, level of complexity and form of presentation to audience needs if we are to communicate influentially
message – we must be clear on what we want to say
the nature of the data – we must illustrate our data with precision and integrity
constraints and use cases – we must fit our work to our resources and to how we are going to use it.
Choosing and designing the graphic – provides tips on how to select the most appropriate visual components, and then design them to a high standard.
Developing infographics – goes through the process from brief to concept to production.
Learning method
This interactive course includes lectures, group discussions, exercises, group work and comprehensive course notes.
