FeedbackFruits: Peer Review
Description
This workshop shows you how to design, build and use FeedbackFruits Peer Review assignments, including the surrounding pedagogy of how to run effective reviews.
FeedbackFruits Peer Review lets learners review each other's draft or final assignment submissions, by marking up the document and filling out a rubric. This has two benefits:
It improves students' assignment skills. This is because reviewing and receiving reviews from multiple others gives students different perspectives on how to improve. Plus, it forces students to pay attention to the rubric, since they're using it to review each other.
It improves students' feedback skills i.e. their skills at giving, interpreting and using constructive feedback. These are important skills for any career, so it's worth giving students practice.
Peer Review also has features built in to prevent any risk of plagiarism arising from these reviews.
Note: this may not be the right tool for you. If you want students to evaluate the contributions of their group members (i.e. evaluate whether their group members pulled their weight), then this is the wrong workshop - you'd instead want a different tool called FeedbackFruits Group Member Evaluation, which we also run a workshop on. FeedbackFruits Peer Review is specifically about reviewing the quality of a draft or final assignment. If you're not sure which tool is right for your pedagogical circumstances, consider booking a 30 minute consult with a TLI expert.
