Description

A Day with Ellen F. Davis

Join us at Carey Baptist College for a special day with esteemed Old Testament scholar Ellen F. Davis, exploring the intersections of Scripture, theology, creation care and the arts.

Ellen will present three talks exploring creation, the Old Testament, and art, followed by responses from Carey faculty and extensive time for open discussion and Q&A. This is an opportunity to engage with Ellen’s thinking, ask questions and participate in rich theological conversation.

Ellen F. Davis is the Amos Ragan Kearns Distinguished Professor of Bible and Practical Theology at Duke Divinity School. Her work is particularly concerned with how the Bible speaks to urgent public issues, including her current focus on developing an exegetically grounded response to the ecological crisis. A lay Episcopalian, Ellen has also been involved in interfaith dialogue for four decades.

Whether you are a student, pastor, theological educator or simply interested in exploring Scripture more deeply, you are warmly invited to join us for this special day of learning, dialogue and discovery.

Date: Friday 12 February 2027, 9am-4pm (Registration and doors open 8.30 am)
Venue: Carey Baptist College, 1 Marewa Road, Greenlane, Tamaki Makaurau (Auckland)

We look forward to welcoming you to Carey for this special opportunity to learn from and engage with Ellen Davis.
