 Description:

Step into a world of creativity and self-expression inspired by the vibrant and thought-provoking works of artist Marikit Santiago. In this exciting children’s workshop, participants will embark on a guided tour of Santiago's current exhibition, immersing themselves in themes of transformation and identity. Through playful discussion and observation, they'll learn how art can tell powerful stories about who we are and how we evolve.

Workshop Highlights:

  1. Guided Exhibition Tour:
    • Children will explore Marikit Santiago's exhibition with an engaging guide who will share the stories behind the works.
    • Discussions will focus on themes like cultural heritage, personal transformation, and the unique ways artists represent identity.
  2. Art-Making Session: Tiny Fancy Portraits
    • Frame Construction: Participants will construct ornate frames using cardboard and paper as the base, then embellish them with colourful craft materials like gems, glitter, ribbons, and textured paper.
    • Self-Portrait Creation: Using mirrors, participants will sketch and decorate self-portraits that reflect their individuality, identity, and personal transformation.
    • Exploration of Themes: Children will be encouraged to think about what makes them unique and express their thoughts visually, using colour, texture, and symbolism.

Let your imagination soar as you design and curate your very own miniature exhibition space, inspired by the incredible works and storytelling of Marikit Santiago! This hands-on workshop invites children to step into the shoes of an artist and curator, using everyday materials to construct a unique, personalized exhibition space.

Workshop Highlights:

  1. Guided Inspiration Tour:
    • Begin with a lively tour of Marikit Santiago's current exhibition, discovering the ways she uses space, color, and storytelling to create immersive environments.
    • Learn about the decisions artists and curators make to bring artwork to life in an exhibition.
  2. Design and Build Your Exhibition Space:
    • Base Construction: Using cardboard, recycled boxes, and magazines, children will construct a miniature exhibition space—a gallery, a room, or even an abstract world.
    • Creative Layout: Explore how to arrange and curate artwork in the space, focusing on flow, interaction, and storytelling.
