Join crochet artisan, Luise Elsing in the delightful courtyard at Commonry at 64 Moncur Street, Woollahra from 11am to 2pm for a creative and inspirational workshop. It’s free of charge and material provided. EVERYONE welcome but you need to register (maximum of 20 places available, maximum of 4 tickets per order.)

About Luise Elsing

Luise has been crocheting for the past 12 years and exhibited her work at the Cultural Hub at Woollahra Gallery in July 2024 with great success. Luise has participated in and led workshops presented at crochet groups interested in her genre Film in Crochet where she expresses her response to a film in crochet form.

Luise prefers free-form crochet, encouraging new and experienced crocheters to use different sized yarns, hooks and stitches randomly. It’s enlightening for beginners and refreshing for accomplished crocheters to abandon patterns and precision and embrace the fibre and their imagination.

Her current work THEMOON has been accepted by the OpenField Contemporary Art Exhibition, 13–15 June 2025. This work involves community participation with contributing artists making mandalas. The final piece will be a 4m sphere exhibited outdoors. ‘It’s a crocheted football field wrapped around a ball.’ The motive for THEMOON is to draw attention to the significance of the moon to life on earth and our beliefs. It is relevant now when space travel and human presence on the moon is being pursued with the NASA Artemis program.
