Creative Movement for Kids (Ages 5-7) :: September - November 2026
Description
This class is an introduction to movement and dance for children aged 5-7 years old. Through movement games and beginner dance skills, children learn self-confidence and practice basic gross motor skills to improve balance and coordination. Students will also begin to learn to express themselves through movement by learning about movement dynamics and incorporating imaginative play into class. The goal for this class is for students to leave with improved confidence, new skill sets and a positive relationship with their body that will last a lifetime. Parents and caregivers are welcome to wait in the boardroom during class.
Classes are Fridays from 4:00pm - 4:45pm :: September 11th - November 6th, 2026 (no class on October 23rd).
This class may be subbed by another teacher. We encourage pre-registration and early purchases of drop-in classes, so that if a class has to be cancelled for health or safety concerns, the teacher can let you know by email. If you are doing a last-minute drop-in class and want to be assured there is no unexpected last-minute cancellation, you can let the teacher know you plan to attend (robindavisdances@gmail.com). If we have to cancel a class, we will schedule a makeup class at the end of the series or will elongate the upcoming classes to make up the time. The series class pass is for the current session; we do not offer individual make-ups for absences through our series class pass. We pay our teachers and administrators $22/hr for their teaching time, prep work, and administration for this series. Thanks for supporting pay to artists and understanding that we cannot offer refunds for missed classes.

- What is your access environment?
We welcome all people with disabilities to our events. The Indian Boundary Cultural Center auditorium and restrooms are wheelchair accessible and mobility aids are welcome. For public events, we all enter through the accessible entrance on the North side of the building. The auditorium features wood floors, bright natural light during the day and glass windows that can be opened as necessary. Medical face masks are optional, but if you have a need for everyone in the space to be wearing masks for your attendance day, let us know and we can communicate that with everyone. There are folding chairs for audience members as well as some bolsters for floor seating. The Cultural Center staff cleans the facilities with strong-smelling products, but while we are there, we use only natural products for cleaning. If you require a specific access service to fully participate or have any questions about accessibility, contact Julia Antonick at julia@khecari.org. Please be in touch as soon as you know you would like to join us so we can make sure we have the accommodations ready for you on the day you will attend.
- Does a parent have to be present for the class?
For the 5-7 and 7-10 year old classes, you can either hang out in the lounge area or drop off.
- Is there anything else I should know about the space? (i.e. What's up with the name?!)
Yes!
In addition to the fact that the name “Indian Boundary” denotes a line created to ethnically cleanse the area, there is also imagery within the fieldhouse that may be triggering to many, in particular to Native Americans and Jews. We want to notify people in advance as a trigger warning and to affirm Khecari’s anti-racist stance.
