Event description

A four day intensive for up to 20 participants consecutively over 4 days. 

Designed to bring value and massively enrich your own artistry and creativity, the workshop series is open to both full-time professional practitioners as much as part-time community musicians. 

The comprehensive daily Creative Music Workshop program is an awesome opportunity to explore and develop your practical and creative music skills, and helps develop your artistry in every aspect of music making - accessing inspiration and ideas without “writer’s block”, accessing more emotional depth, having experiences of creating music, acquiring new musical skills, new practical understandings of how music can be created, insights into creative approaches, ways of working creatively solo and collaboratively, and new approaches to wellbeing as arts practitioners including learned strategies and practices to support being able to self-regulate, calm, nurture, express, feel and share, belong, create, contribute, and feel valued ongoing.

The content of the workshops is relevant to all instruments including voice, across all styles of music from classical to folk, rock, pop, blues, indie, ambient and world music. Includes small group and one-on-one time, in an integrated, exciting and inclusive program of growing and deepening your creative music-making.

Being open to the general public to observe, it is also a fascinating and enriching opportunity for the public to wander in and see an insider’s view of the musicians working together with an international calibre artist in the intimate creative processes of music-making.

Note: Persons under 15 yrs must be accompanied by an adult

About Rupert Guenther

Rupert Guenther is a Vienna-trained concert violinist & composer who specialises in performances of his own new works inspired by local environments, events in history, artworks, the sciences, philosophy, poetry, the natural environment and his own life stories. he uses soundscapes, electronics, improvisation, composition and cross-arts and cross-cultural collaborations, with an underlying theme of fostering spiritual, social and emotional wellbeing in the communities he visits.

His solo concerts over 25 years include Sydney Opera House, Melbourne Recital Centre, The Guildhall Festival London, St Anna Church Vienna, Museum of Docklands London, Bombora House NYC, Adelaide Baroque Hall, Government House Ballroom Perth, and Denmark Arts Brave New Works Festival. 

He has independently released over 40 albums of his original music since 2003 including 5 albums commissioned and recorded by ABC Classic FM.

He has performed with The Vienna Chamber Opera, The Vienna Johann Strauss Sinfonia, The Australian Pops Orchestra, The Beatles producer Sir George Martin, Olivia Newton-John, John Farnham, Hollywood songwriter Lizbeth Scott, and Greek superstar Demis Roussos, as well as projects with members of Frank Zappa band, Procol Harum, Daddy Cool, Little River Band, Models, and many more.

He has taught his approaches to creative music in workshops and masterclasses worldwide for over 20 years including the Vienna University for The Performing Arts, The Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London, the St Paul im Lavanttal Summer School Austria, the Western Australia Academy of Perming Arts (WAAPA), University of Western Australia, Monash University, University of Queensland, and international conferences including The Reflective Conservatoire at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London, the International Society for Improvised Music in Denver USA and Switzerland, the European String Teachers Association (ESTA) International Conferences in Sweden, Wales and Portugal, and many private workshops for top European orchestra players, teachers, as well as community music groups, schools, amateur musicians and regional communities worldwide
