Travel instructions

The Art Gallery of NSW is located on Art Gallery Road, The Domain, Sydney. It is located on the eastern side of Sydney’s CBD, next to the Royal Botanic Gardens and the Domain, just down the road from St Mary’s Cathedral. It is about a 5 minute walk from Macquarie Street, across the Domain or from Hyde Park. By Bus: Bus 441 departs from the York Street side of Queen Victoria Building (Stand D) and drops off near the Art Gallery. Returns to Queen Victoria Building, picking up outside the Art Gallery. By Train: St James and Martin Place train stations are both about 10 minutes walk. By Taxis and Rideshare: Drop-off and pick-up zone on Art Gallery Road near the front of the Art Gallery. Parking: Meter parking is on Mrs Macquaries Road and other streets around the Art Gallery. There are also several parking stations near the Art Gallery. The closest are the Domain Car Park, and The Wharf Woolloomooloo Car Park, both of which can be booked in advance online. Note changes to access from the Domain Car Park: The lift closest to the Art Gallery is not operational as it is being replaced by Wilson Parking, with the service scheduled to resume at the end of 2024. There are stairs, and the car park’s south lift remains operational.

Entry instructions

The main entrance to Naala Buda is situated on Art Gallery Road and can be accessed through the Welcome Plaza. At the entrance, there is a Welcome Hub.

After entry instructions

From the Naala Buda foyer you can take the elevators located straight across from the entrance or the escalators down to Lower Level 2. The first set of escalators will take you down to Lower Level 1. There is a second set of escalators located near the restaurant which will take you down to the Lower Level 2. Lower Level 2 is made up of a large open atrium space with adjoining exhibition galleries. Meers Hall is located on the opposite end from the escalators across the atrium. All public areas inside both the North and South buildings can be accessed by ramps, lifts, stairs and elevators.

Toilet location

Accessible toilets, parents and carers rooms are located on Lower Levels 1 and 2. The closest toilets to Meers Hall are on the opposite side of the Lower Level 2 atrium behind the escalators.
