Creative Rights and Artists' Resale Royalty - Wānaka workshop
Event description
In case you missed this insightful workshop last year, we are thrilled to welcome back Copyright Licensing New Zealand, Creative Rights Educator / Kaiwhakahaere Whakapā, Karen Workman back to Queenstown and Wānaka for another insightful and practical workshop designed to demystify key aspects of creative rights and resale royalties now in effect.
Part 1: Understanding Creative Rights
For the first hour and a half, Karen will dive into New Zealand's copyright law, breaking down complex concepts into manageable insights for creative practitioners across all fields—whether you’re involved in the literary arts, visual arts, screen industry, or music. You’ll gain a clear understanding of what copyright protects, the nuances of original work usage, and how to navigate copyright breaches. Karen will also discuss the role of contracts, the impact of AI, and other relevant hot topics.
Part 2: Navigating Artists' Resale Royalty
In the final half-hour, Karen will focus on the new Artists’ Resale Royalty legislation set to take effect on December 1st. This segment is crucial for visual artists, sculptors, art estate inheritors, and dealer galleries. Karen will explore what the legislation entails, how it will be administered, and what changes you can expect in your professional practice.
The session will wrap up with an open Q&A to address your specific concerns.
This event is brought to you by Copyright Licensing New Zealand, and Three Lakes Cultural Trust.
This event will also be held in Queenstown on 2 May from 9am to 11am. Click HERE to book Queenstown.
