Event description

Come join local Fremantle Press author Jay Martin in this fun and interactive course that will help you get going - or get finished - with your creative writing project. The sessions focus on practical and useful elements of story-telling that will help you find and create structure in your stories, with examples that bring ideas to life. Each session also includes time for free writing, where you can try out your new knowledge and progress your own writing projects. The techniques are applicable to fiction, non-fiction and memoir; Jay has experience writing all three and can provide tips and suggestions. People of all backgrounds, experience and knowledge welcome.

Every Thu 6 Feb-27 Feb | 6-8pm | $60

About your facilitator

Jay started freelance writing when her husband's job took her to Poland - an experience that became her first book, Vodka and Apple Juice (Fremantle Press, winner of the Fremantle TAG Hungerford award). Her first novel, Boomtown Snap, will be published by Fremantle Press in May 2025. Her work has appeared in a number of European and Australian magazines, and she has been a panelist and presenter at writers festivals and events in Australia and Canada. She teaches travel and creative writing around WA.
