In "Creatures and Concertos", Pieter de Vries will share his techniques for capturing extraordinary images for David Attenborough and National Geographic. His talk also features an exquisite performance of Vivaldi's The Four Seasons-"Spring". In this segment of his documentary, "Four", he captures the essence of Japan's Cherry Blossom love story, offering a visually stunning musical experience.

Creatures and Concertos is a collaboration between ArtsNational Coffs Coast and Coffs Harbour Music Society. An afternoon concert will follow our arts talk. Coffs Harbour Music Society has invited popular Australian pianist, Simon Tedeshi. Simon will take requests from the audience in what will be a spontaneous and enjoyable recital

Pieter de Vries is a renowned documentary cinematographer whose incredible journey has taken him from the heights of the Space Shuttle to the depths of the North Atlantic. He has captured extraordinary moments around the world. Regarded as one of the leading documentary cinematographers, Pieter's films have garnered numerous accolades, including Emmys and BAFTAs.

His work spans more than 180 countries and territories, filming for prestigious organizations like NASA and collaborating with acclaimed director James Cameron on the exploration of the Titanic wreck. Pieter's contributions to beloved nature documentaries presented by David Attenborough have captivated audiences worldwide.

Additionally, Pieter cruises the oceans as a guest speaker, where he screens and discusses his work to an international audience. He also travels as a mentor on various voyages to remote locations, including South Georgia Island, Antarctica, the Arctic, the Galapagos Islands, the Russian Far East, and Papua New Guinea.

He is an Australian Cinematographers Society (ACS) accredited Director of Photography, a Sony Global Imaging Ambassador, and an Apple Creative Partner.
