Event: New A2 Mine Site Memorial Opening: One Site. Twenty-Two Lives. Countless Stories.
General information
Entry instructions
Please follow event signage and the directions of traffic management staff when arriving at the A2 Mine Site. Most parking will be along the roadside, with limited designated accessible parking spaces and a drop-off zone available near the event entrance. Traffic management staff will assist with directing vehicles and pedestrians safely into the event area. Please allow extra time to park and make your way to the entrance. The event is outdoors, so we recommend wearing warm, weather-appropriate clothing and suitable footwear for grass, sandy/gravel paths and uneven ground. If you require assistance on arrival, please speak with a member of the event or traffic management team.
Toilet location
There are no toilet facilities available at the A2 Mine Site. Guests are encouraged to use toilet facilities before arriving at the event. The nearest public toilets are located in Creswick township.
Accessible parking
Most event parking will be available along the roadside, with a limited number of designated accessible parking spaces available close to the event entrance. A designated drop-off zone will also be available near the entrance for guests who require assistance accessing the site. Traffic management staff will be on site to help guide vehicles and direct you to available parking and drop-off areas. To help manage parking we encourage guests attending in groups to car pool where possible. Please note that the event is outdoors on a historic mine site, and some surfaces may be uneven or difficult to navigate. If you require additional assistance on arrival, please speak with a member of the event team.
Accessibility & Site Considerations
The A2 Mine Site is an outdoor historic site within a park environment. The site and paths are being prepared ahead of the event, with pathways being cleaned up and maintained as much as possible to improve access. However, guests should be aware that the site remains primarily a natural park setting, with sandy and gravel paths, grassed areas and some uneven ground. Depending on weather conditions, surfaces may become muddy, slippery or difficult to navigate, and some areas may be challenging for wheelchairs, mobility aids or guests with limited mobility. If you have mobility, vision, hearing or other access requirements, please contact the event team ahead of the event so we can discuss the site and how we may best assist you. Event staff will also be available on the day to provide assistance where possible.
Wet Weather & Event Changes
We are doing everything we can to hold the A2 Mine Site event at its intended location, as we feel it is important to celebrate the site and its history in the place where it happened. Weather protection measures, including marquees, weather blocks and seating, will be in place to help make the event as comfortable as possible. However, in the event of extreme or unsafe weather conditions, the event will be relocated to Creswick Town Hall. Please keep an eye on your emails in the days leading up to the event for any updates regarding the weather and event location. If a change of venue is required, we will notify ticket holders as soon as possible.
