This is a Member Only Event

Join us to hear Madeline Sturms discuss the implications to cities with the changes in property tax law. We will also hold our Annual Membership Meeting, which will include a review of the chapter financials and a vote on the proposed 2026 Board of Directors Slate.

The meeting and vote will take place at the start of the luncheon, with Madeline's Property Tax Update to follow. Votes will be tallied at this September membership meeting. If you are not able to attend this event, an email will be sent to all members in September with instructions on how to submit your proxy vote.

Speaker Bio:

Madeline Sturms, AICP has worked for the City of Pleasant Hill since 2013. Initially hired as Associate Planner/Stormwater Coordinator, she was promoted to Senior Planner in 2015 and Community Development Director since 2017. She was promoted to Assistant City Manager/Community Development Director in 2022. Prior to working for the City, she worked as a Regional Planner for the Southeast Iowa Regional Planning Commission (SEIRPC) in Burlington, Iowa. Madeline has a Master of Public Administration from Drake University and a Bachelor of Science in Community and Regional Planning from Iowa State University. She is also a graduate of the Certified Public Manager (CPM) program from Drake University and the Economic Development Institute from the University of Oklahoma and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) from the American Planning Association. She volunteers on a variety of boards and commissions advocating for civic engagement including serving her second term as elected president of the American Planning Association Iowa Chapter, serving as a precinct election official since 2020 and recently appointed to the Citizen Advisory Board for Iowa Public Radio.
