Event description

Constructive criticism is an essential skill artists can use to reflect on their own work, while learning how to respectfully communicate with creative peers. Learn the art of providing and receiving creative critique! Facilitated by artist and Creative Critters creator Jessica Tanto, in this workshop you will learn how to provide and receive feedback for each other’s artwork using the Creative Critters card deck. The Creative Critters method is designed to facilitate clear communication and active listening during an art group feedback session (group crit).

This session is ideal for creatives who wish to:

  • Receive fresh and insightful critique for an ongoing project
  • Learn how to provide effective feedback to peers in the creative industry
  • Meet other local creatives to build your art group crit/community

This workshop is open to creatives of any discipline from visual art, game design, music, dance, writing, etc. However, if your art form has a durational component (e.g. a videogame or music), you can only showcase 3 minutes of the work. Reflect on which aspect of the work you would want to receive critique for in this session and how you can encapsulate that within 3 minutes. This workshop has a limited capacity of 15 people on a first come first serve basis and is offered especially for artists/arts workers based in Merri-bek's North. If you are no longer able to participate in this workshop, please email Jess Ibacache at jibacache@merri-bek.vic.gov.au.
