CS50x Puzzle Day

Target audience: ADM+S members (any)
This is an opt-in social activity.
Location: this will be a hybrid event. In-person location will be at ADM+S offices at RMIT Melbourne. If there is critical mass in other city hubs we will arrange in-person meeting spots for you.

Puzzle Day

Do you like solvable problems? Us too! Work together with friends and colleagues on a set of logic puzzles at our locally hosted CS50x Puzzle Day event and compete against other teams across the world! This event is open to all ADM+S members.

CS50x Puzzle Day is an event organised by Harvard University's introduction to computer science course, and features logical puzzles that do not require computer science knowledge. In 2024 more than 11,000 people registered from 164 countries; you can get more of the stats here.

Event duration

Start time: 1.00pm

Finish time: 5.00pm

Event structure

1pm: doors open; participants self-select into small teams

1:15pm: run through the instructions for puzzle day

1:30 - 3:30pm: solve puzzles, eat snacks

3:30-3:45pm: anyone looking to submit their team officially should do so now (if you want a certificate from CS50x)

3:45pm - 5pm: puzzle-by-puzzle group discussion, since we won't have the answers yet! Official answers get released the following week.
