Re-enactment of scenes from the play 'We will show the Country' presented by Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Elder Jacqui Wandin
Event description
Join us for some scenes from 'We will show the Country', which is an upcoming play being held as part of the Yalingbuth Yalingbu Yirrimboi - Yesterday Today Tomorrow, celebrations being held at Coranderrk this coming December. This marks the 100th year since the Board of Protection for Aboriginals was finally abolished in 1924 and commemorates all ancestors of Coranderrk.
The play is a glimpse into living conditions and the voices of Coranderrk residents including William Barak, brought to you by way of testimonials and the playing out of scenes from the time moving into the 1881 Parliamentary Coranderrk enquiry.
We acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi-Wurrung and Bunurong people as the traditional custodians of the Birrarung and its surrounding lands. We pay respect to their Elders, past and present and acknowledge their continued connection with the land and water they have cared for and protected for thousands of generations.
