Event description

Join Ngarrindjeri Elder Mark Koolmatrie as he shares his insights on what it means to be Ngarrindjeri, including his belief in the historical connection between his people, the Ramindjeri, and Kangaroo Island. He will also explore the perspectives of the Kaurna and Narungga regarding their connections to the island. Mark, who runs Kool Tours, a tourism business on the Fleurieu and Kangaroo Island, will enhance participants understanding of Indigenous culture. Finally, he will address opportunities for collaboration with Indigenous communities. This workshop is suited to business operators and their staff who are working in the visitor economy.

The training will include a 2 hour interactive workshop, where participants can ask questions to seek a deeper understanding, a morning or afternoon tea, and a cultural walk with Mark or one of his family.

This training is being delivered by the Kangaroo Island Tourism Alliance in partnership with TiCSA as part of their Business Capabilities Program. The TiCSA Business Capabilities Program is delivered with the support of the South Australian Tourism Commission.
