    Event description

    About us

Ballarat Regional Multicultural Council (BRMC) is the peak multicultural agency for the Central Highlands and Wimmera regions. We work in partnership with our members, key government and community stakeholders, and the wider Ballarat community to actively promote multiculturalism, cultural diversity, inclusion and the wellbeing of all migrant communities throughout the region.

    About our training

Our training is immersive, participatory, and designed to develop essential skills and knowledge in cross-cultural work and inclusion. Our workshops are facilitated by qualified trainers with lived experience as migrants or refugees to Australia. We value participatory, self-reflective exchanges to frame learning within individual experience.

“The training) covered a lot of very interesting ground in a compact timeframe. Presenters delivered content in a very approachable way, making it both enjoyable and more effective to understand and appreciate content.” -Training Participant

    Key outcomes

By participating in our program, individuals can learn practical skills to better engage with people from different cultures. They will develop communication skills, learn key strategies, and discover how to work with interpreters. Participants will also explore how their own beliefs and cultural background can influence their work and interactions with diverse communities. Additionally, the program will provide insight into the changing demographics of our local region, both in demographics and, more importantly, via the real experiences of facilitators.

    * Registration for online sessions will be followed up with a calendar invite and link to join the training.
