Culturally responsive leadership online training
Event description
This 3-hour online workshop will help managers and team leaders to build their confidence and capability to support staff from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Through interactive and thought-provoking activities participants will hone their skills in communicating cross culturally to minimise misunderstanding and identify strategies to address common challenges that culturally diverse staff experience when working in aged care services, disability care, and veteran care services.
Learning objectives:
At the completion of this training participants will be able to:
- Describe the benefits of inclusive work teams.
- Reflect on the impact of cultural identities, beliefs and values on everyday interactions in the workplace.
- Understand the principles of culturally responsive practice.
- Identify common ground to work collaboratively.
- Implement a strategy for managing unconscious bias.
- Understand how to communicate differing expectations.
- Identify strategies to support workers and respond to discrimination.

This workshop is being made available through the NSW/ACT Home Care Workforce Support Program funded by the Federal Government, delivered by SSI.
