    “The beginning of our Journey”
    This particular piece of Aboriginal Artwork has been titled by the artist, Kahli Luttrell; Yorta Yorta descendent of Northern Country Victoria and has been developed by the Victorian Palliative Care Program for use in Victorian Aboriginal Palliative Care.

    ATTENTION: Health professionals and community workers who care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples

    WORKSHOP: Culturally responsive palliative care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples

    Aim: Acquire knowledge, skills and confidence in providing responsive and culturally sensitive care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples with a life-limiting illness, and their families.

    Target Audience: Health professionals (of all disciplines), Aboriginal Health Workers, Aboriginal Liaison Officers and Community Workers who support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. You may work in residential care, community health or a hospital setting anywhere in Victoria.

    Content: Culturally responsive approaches to caring for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples with a life limiting illness and their families.

    Topics include:

    • The palliative approach
    • Cultural responsive care
    • Communication
    • Grief and loss
    • Advance care planning
    • Caring for yourself

    Facilitator:   Nicole Cassar: Business and Cultural Consultant. Nicole is a Gunditjmara, Wotjobaluk and Maltese woman from Victoria
